Merge collection
Design mission: use materials from vintage wedding dresses to create a Collection emulating synesthesia and the merge of color and shape in the human mind.
Research

Synesthesia is the merging of the visual and auditory pathways in the brain.
Inspiring verbiage:
- Rhythmic Patterns, Contrasting of Pattern
- Harmony, Balance
- Improvisation
I was inspired by the concept of synesthesia and talented artists such as: Vincent Van Gogh, Wassily Kandinsky, and Daniel Mullen.
When thinking about auditory and visual pathways, it was inspiring to compare this to the vintage wedding dresses I collected in the past year for this collection. The loud beaded applique compared to the milky satin fabric. I realized that I could use synesthesia in fashion through repetition of elements and contrast of different materials I collected.
